Amazing Amaryllis Race

posted in: Home Page News | 0

Thanks to the Switzer family for purchasing a pink amaryllis bulb for Mrs. Jordan and a red one for Mrs. Vella. Mrs. Jordan’s started off growing at a rapid pace and bloomed into a beautiful pink flower. Daily, a couple of grade one students from Mrs. Roundsky’s class bounded down to the office to take the plant measurements. What an engaging math task! The grade one students were ready to declare Mrs. Jordan’s plant the winner……until……that one day the red plant grew and grew and grew. Two long stalks produced 10 crimson red blooms. On Friday, February 13th we proudly declared Mrs. Vella the winner. A good lesson to remember is “slow and steady wins the race.”
