I (Maxine Jordan) don’t use this forum as a personal venue and work hard to keep it related to the Jack Callaghan School community. But today I do want to share a good news story about a young lady from Fenelon Falls, a TLDSB alumni. I thank you for bearing with me as I highlight this great example of character.
I had the pleasure last evening of watching my son play in a small hockey tournament. This hockey tournament is organized by a young lady with all of the proceeds going to Jumpstart. It just warmed my heart to see so many young and older people taking part in a charity event, as there were no prizes handed out for the winning team (just bragging rights). This young lady wants to make sure children can access sports in life, even if they are experiencing financial hardship. Not always being able to afford activities when she was growing up has been the driving force for her to do some fundraising for Jumpstart.
Jumpstart is a great organization if you need some financial support to keep your child active and involved in an outside activity. If you google jumpstart you will find out more information of how to access the program.
Thank-you for reading this as I think it is so important to support our youth that are trying to make a difference in this world.
Do you know a young person that we could highlight in this forum?
