Canada’s Greatest Music Class

The grade 7 and grade 8 classes travelled to IE Weldon today to do a taping for a contest that is looking for “Canada’s greatest music class.”

The contest involves choosing a Canadian song from a list provided, and creating your own version. Under the direction of our talented Ms. Ogilvie, the students have worked tirelessly to enter this contest. Today was the day for the taping. We thank IE Weldon for supporting our school with this project.

The entry will be submitted and then evaluated by a panel of musicians, CBC Music journalists and MusiCounts staff. The winner will be announced on Radio 2 Morning with Tom Power on December 4th.  Good luck Cougars in this Canada-wide contest.

Ms. O. writes, “Of course we are planning to win, but regardless of whether we win or not, the learning has been tremendous and I have seen growth in all of the students in musical skill, musicality, and ensemble performance.”

A HUGE thank-you to Ms. Ogilvie for providing this opportunity for our musicians. Thanks again to IE Weldon for supporting their feeder school. Also, a BIG thanks to our grade 7 and 8 students who dedicated themselves to this project.
