Wow! We have lots going on within the walls of JCPS. I just thought it was time for an update.
Mrs. MacPherson has been taking her grade 6 students to the Lindsay Curling Club on Monday mornings. What a great opportunity for these students to try a new sport. Thanks to the Lindsay Curling club for hosting us and the volunteer drivers for getting the students there. Thanks Mrs. MacPherson for organizing this.
Good luck to the intermediate boys as they represent JCPS at County Basketball on February 3rd. Thanks Mr. Byers for your hardwork and dedication to this team. Go Cougars Go! Thanks also to our other basketball coaches: Mr. Short, Ms. Finlay and Mrs. O’Leary.
Intramural ball hockey has started. Thanks Ms. Chislett and Mr. Short for organizing and running this activity for our students. Lots of excitement as students head to the gym for this new activity at our school.
Thanks Mrs. O’Leary for hosting the Knights of Columbus Free Throw competition for our students. There was lots of excitement as the students left the gym sharing how many “shots” they made. I tried to tease some students to say that I got 6 out of 6 shots and the grade 7 replied with, “that’s okay you weren’t going against me because you are in an older category.”
New this year is a Coding Project initiative. Coding (also known as programming) is the art of instructing a computer, app, phone, and other technology, how to perform specific tasks. Thanks Mrs. MacPherson for going to the training and taking this exciting initiative on.
Thanks to Mr. Short who went to a Robotics training and is starting a Robotics Club for some students. We now have two kits in our school, which our students are eager to get working with.
Flute group continues almost every recess in the library. Thanks Ms. O!
Some of our older students have just submitted a Speak Up grant requesting money for a couple of different activities to do at our school. Thanks Ms. O. for letting these students use their voice!
A knitting club is going to be starting soon. Thanks Mrs. O’Leary for introducing something new at JCPS. If you have any knitting supplies that you could either lend or donate to this club we would really appreciate it.

We work really hard at posting up to date events on our website calendar. We hope you are checking it regularly. Skipping dates and times just got added. Here is the link: http://jcp.tldsb.on.ca/jcp-events/
There will be a PA day added to this year’s school calendar. The additional PA day will be Friday, March 11, 2016. This addition is part of the provincial contracts negotiated earlier this school year with our teacher unions. An additional professional activity day is to be included in each school year.
