It is exciting to see smiles on the faces of these two walkers. Last year when Mason was in grade 4 he tackled an issue that ended in a positive result. Mason was concerned for his safety and the safety of others with the posted 60 km/h sign in the area of the school. He wrote a letter to the City of Kawartha Lakes asking them to consider reducing the speed limit to make it safe for he and others in the area to be able to walk to school.
Mason was excited when he found out that the City understood his concern and recognized that the limit should be dropped to 40 km/h, which is usually the speed in a school zone.
What a great example of student voice!
